ATTN Recognized Teachers from outside of our area are welcome to come east to teach specialty workshops or Levels 1 to 3. To find out more information or submit your course outline, please contact at: education@atlanticttn.com.

Teacher's Criteria

for becoming or maintaining status

In order to maintain "status" Teachers are to take a one 8 hour Therapeutic Touch specific or related course annually, as per accepted by TTNO/ATTN. Credit will be given for participation at a Health Fair, publication of a TT article of moderate length, oral presentations to Community Groups or volunteering under the auspices/direction of ATTN. This may include service on the Board of Directors and Board Committees of ATTN.- revised March, 02.

The Network will give the names of teachers to the public, on request, those who:

1. Have been a Registered Practitioner in good standing.

2. Maintain a regular practice of TT (minimum average 2 to 4 times per week).

3. Have studied with at least three ATTN Registered Teachers, thus experiencing a variety of teaching skills and methods.

4. Undertake training with a Mentor ,who is currently an ATTN Registered Teacher. Both Mentor and Teacher -in Training shall notify the ATTN Education Chair in writing when beginning training and request current information on the process.

5. Prior to assisting or co-teaching , submit in writing an Agreement to follow the ATTN Guidelines and Curriculum for teaching Kreiger-Kunz Therapeutic Touch and submit curriculum for each level taught.

6. Develop and submit curriculum for Level 1 prior to assisting or co-teaching. Refer to the TTNO outline for basic information to cover.

7. Have received mentoring/supervision of their teaching skills with an ATTN Registered Teacher by observing and assisting in teaching TT. For example, observe Level 1, co-teach Level 1 receive feedback and plan steps to complete training. In addition Mentor may observe the first workshop taught. Mentor shall review and provide feedback to the Teacher in-Training on the materials used by the Teacher- in Training including curriculum, Teaching plans/Notes and Handouts for Level 1.

8. * Certificates for courses taught during training period will be done as follows:

a) When assisting- Mentor signs

b) When co-teaching- Both mentor and Teacher- in Training sign

c) When teaching a full Level 1 under the observation of Mentor and before qualifying as a Teacher- Both Mentor and Teacher- in Training sign.

Mentor is responsible to assure that participants receive the full content of Level 1 before certificates are issued.

First Workshop taught independently will be recognized by ATTN only if all criteria are fulfilled prior to teaching this Level 1.

9. Are members in good standing of the ATTN Teachers Collective.

10. Follow guidelines of the ATTN Teachers Collective.

11. Participate in the ATTN Teachers Collective meetings and activities.

12. Participate in yearly up-dates through retreats, workshops and conferences.

13. Enhance their teaching skills through knowledge and experience of adult teaching principles.

In addition the teacher will be expected to:

re-evaluate and upgrade teaching skills

continue a program of self-healing and personal growth

contact the Education Committee if a student does not successfully complete a workshop

Statement of Ethics and Conduct for Teachers

1. I will conduct my practice and teaching of Therapeutic Touch in accordance with the principles of Therapeutic Touch as developed by Dolores Krieger and Dora Kunz, and the guidelines and curriculum of the Atlantic Therapeutic Touch Network.

2. In advance of the session, I will make clear to the recipient any fees which I charge for my service.

3.  I will ensure that all interpersonal transactions between myself and the client are non-exploitive and essential to their care.  I will refrain from selling any product or service to the client.

4. I acknowledge that Therapeutic Touch may increase the rapport between the recipient and myself.  All information will be kept by me in strict confidence.  Unless s/he is directly involved in the Therapeutic Touch session, I will refrain from having another person with me during the session (unless the client wishes a relative or friend present).

5. I will not attempt to use Therapeutic Touch as a basis for Spiritual, Psychotherapy, or other counseling, unless I have training and qualifications to do so, as well as permission from the client.

6.  I will focus on the needs of the client and will refrain from discussing my problems and personal issues.

7. I will regularly evaluate my own strengths, limitations, and levels of effectiveness, always striving to enhance my abilities by means of further education and training.

8. In any Therapeutic Touch session I will maintain the highest integrity, keeping the interest of the client foremost and conducting all sessions in a manner worthy of the reputation held by Therapeutic Touch Teachers throughout the world.

9. I will not hold the Atlantic Therapeutic Touch Network responsible for any consequences resulting from my teaching of Therapeutic Touch.  The network has the right to withdraw my name from the list of Registered Teachers.

a) an ATTN Registered Teacher

b) A Teacher Recognized by Another Canadian TT Network

c) A Teacher Recognized by Orcas Island, Pumpkin Hollow, NH-PAI
